Xtra TV opts for Hot Bird
The Ukrainian DTH platform Xtra TV plans to launch 36 TV channels on Eutelsat Hot Bird at 13 degrees East.
According to its operator Media Group Ukraine (MGU), 11 of the services will be in HD.
It adds that connecting to Xtra TV is now easy, as most viewers already have a satellite dish set up to receive TV channels from three satellites, namely Hot Bird, Astra and Amos.
Xtra TV currently gives access to the main Ukrainian TV channels, which will be encrypted, as well as a number of premium services including Futbol 1/Futbol 2, Fox, Sony, National Geographic, Viasat and Setanta Sports.
Commenting on the development, Xtra TV’s director Yuri Cherednichok said: “Today, the priority component of most products and services on the market is understanding and user-friendliness. Satellite TV technology itself is complex and our mission is to create the most comfortable connection to Xtra TV services. We have compiled the highest rated TV channels, giving the viewer the opportunity to watch them at an affordable price via satellite receiver and on additional screens, including Android Smart TV, smartphones and tablets on Android / iOS and web browser of the personal computer”.
